Welcome!
We use bioengineering, neuroscience, and pharmacology to innovate drug delivery to the peripheral nerves.

There are few effective treatments for peripheral neuropathy. This is due in part to the blood-nerve barrier, which restricts exposure of nerves to the circulation, requiring high dosing to achieve effective drug levels in the nerves. These doses can result in systemic, off-target toxicity, which has limited the development of new treatments. Our overarching goal is to overcome the challenge of delivering drugs to peripheral nerves with nanomedicine.
Our collaborative and multi-disciplinary lab is located within the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Neuroscience on Loyola University Chicago’s Health Sciences Campus and within Research Service at Edward Hines, Jr., VA Hospital.
